Game 18- PawSox 2, Bulls 0; Game 19- PawSox 7, Bulls 1

The Pawtucket Red Sox have now won eight straight, taking a double header last night at McCoy from the Durham Bulls.  The PawSox shut out Durham 2-0 in game one.  They came back to dominate the Bulls 7-1 in game two.

UP NEXT:  The PawSox host a short two game series with the Scranton-Wilkes Barre Yankees beginning tonight at 6:15p.m. D.J. Mitchell (2-0, 2.12 ERA) gets the start for the Yankes.  Alex Wilson (1-0, 5.27 ERA) gets the ball for Pawtucket.

NOTES: The PawSox re-activated IF Pedro Ciriaco yesterday after spending time on the disabled list with a right oblique strain.  He takes the roster spot of Lars Anderson, who was called up to Boston on Sunday.


PawSox-Bulls Postponed

Today’s match-up between the PawSox and the Durham Bulls has been postponed due to rain.  The game will be made up tomorrow night as part of two seven inning double headers.  The first pitch of game one will be 5:05p.m.

Durham’s Ryan Reid (2-0, 3.97 ERA) will go up against the PawSox’  Justin Germano (1-1, 2.12 ERA) in game one.  Chris Archer (1-2, 9.95 ERA) will face Aaron Cook (2-0, 1.35 ERA) in game two.

It’s six in a row for the PawSox after their 9-5 win over the Durham Bulls yesterday at McCoy.

NOTES:  Rich Hill made his first rehab appearance for the PawSox, pitching one inning. He gave up a solo homer to Bulls C Nevin Ashley and struck out two.

I have been away for a little over a week.  I come back to find the PawSox in first place and winners of five in a row and eight out of nine following their 15-10 win last night over the Durham Bulls at McCoy.  Here are the summaries…

NOTES:  The PawSox had a number of roster moves yesterday.  RP Mark Melancon officially joined the club after being optioned by the Red Sox earlier in the week.  RP Rich Hill also joined the team as part of his 30-day rehab stint for Boston.  Pawtucket  also transferred catcher Matt Spring to Portland and added catcher Mike Rivera who was signed by Boston as a free agent.

Game 7- Red Wings 2, PawSox 1

The Pawtucket Red Sox began their 2012 road schedule on a sour note, falling to the Rochester Red Wings 2-1.

The PawSox offense came alive yesterday afternoon as the Pawtucket Red Sox managed a split of its four game set with the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs with a 8-0 win at McCoy.
