Tides Make It Three Straight, 3-2

The Pawtucket Red Sox scored early in last night’s series finale with the Norfolk Tides.  But it was the Tides who scored last and came away with a 3-2 victory. The win was the third straight for Norfolk over the PawSox.

The PawSox got the ball rolling in the first inning when Jorge Jimenez drilled a one out double to right.  Aaron Bates drove in Jimenez with a triple to right and scored when Dusty Brown doubled to center.  Three hitters, two runs.

Pawtucket could muster only three hits the rest of the game.

The Tides scored solo runs in the third and sixth off PawSox starter Adam Mills to tie the game.  Mills worked a total of 5 1/3 innings, surrendering five hits.  He walked two and struck out one and did not figure in the decision.

The Tides scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth on three singles off PawSox reliever Chad Paronto (1-2).

Tug Hulett collected two hits to lead the PawSox.  2n Josh Bell had three hits, including two doubles, for the Tides.

The PawSox now head to Durham to open up a four game series beginning tonight (7:05pm) with the Bulls.  Boof Bonser (0-1, 7.64 ERA) starts for the Pawsox.  He will face Richard De Los Santos (2-2, 4.76 ERA) for the Bulls.

NOTES:  Following last night’s Red Sox /Phillies contest it was announced that former PawSox outfielder Jonathan Van Every has been designated for assignment to make room for the returning Jacoby Elsbury.  If Van Every clears waivers, he may be optioned back to Pawtucket.
