Former PawSox Pitcher Turns the Trick

Former PawSox pitcher David Pauley returned to McCoy Stadium last night and led his new club, the Norfolk Tides, to a 5-3 win.

Pauley, who had 14 wins as a member of the 2008 PawSox, improved his Norfolk record to 8-9 by throwing 6 1/3 innings, giving up three runs on eight hits.  He walked two, struck out three, and gave up a two-run homer to Chris Carter.

The PawSox received a solid performance out of starter Randor Bierd, who was making a spot start out of the bullpen.  Bierd worked 5 innings, giving up only one run on six hits.  He walked one and strick out four.

T.J. Large (2-1) came on to work 1 1/3 and yielded three runs and took the loss.  Marcus McBeth gave-up Norfolk’s fifth run in the ninth.

Carter now has 14 home runs on the year and has hit one in each of his last three games.

Jeff Bailey returned to the Pawtucket line-up after a day off and went 3 for 4 with a double.

Chris Duncan added two hits and drove in a run for the PawSox.

Game three of the four game set is tonight (7:05 pm).  Radhames Liz (0-3, 5.53 ERA) pitches for the Tides.  Kris Johnson (3-12, 6.43 ERA) will look to rebound for the PawSox.
