NOTES: The Red Sox placed Daisuke Matsuzaka on the disabled list yesterday and called up PawSox 1B Mauro Gomez. This is the second stint for Gomez in Boaton, being called up on May 13th when Darnell McDonald was placed on the DL. Gomez was 0 for 2 in two games with Boston before returning to Pawtucket on May 21st.
The Red Sox announced after last night’s game in Oakland that Clay Mortensen will be sent back down to Pawtucket and Justin Germano will be called up. Germano had an opt-out clause in his contract where he could have left the team on July 1st if he had not been called up to Boston. Germano is 9-4 with a 2.40 ERA with the PawSox in 17 games and was named to the 2012 Triple A All-Star team.
UP NEXT- The two teams now head to Rochester to begin a three game series beginning tonight at 7:05p.m. Doug Mathis (5-6, 3.87 ERA) pitches for the PawSox. Luke French (1-3, 5.27 ERA) starts for Rochester.
