PawSox Take Finale Over Yankees

The Pawtucket Red Sox beat the Scranton-Wilkes Barre Yankees this afternoon 5-4 to take three of four games in their series at PNC Field.  With the win the PawSox now find themselves only a 1/2 game behind the Yankees for first place in the I.L. North Division.

Pawtucket broke up a 4-4 tie with a run in the top of the seventh.  With two outs Matt Sheely reached after being hit by a pitch from Yankees starter Hector Noesi (1-1).  Sheely then stole second and scored on a RBI single by Daniel Nava.

The PawSox scored a single run in the first on a Drew Sutton double and a RBI single by Josh Reddick.  They added two in the fourth on a two-run single by Nate Spears and another in the sixth on a Lars Anderson ground out.

PawSox starter Brandon Duckworth (4-1) got the win, working six innings and giving up four runs on eight hits.  He walked one and struck out five.  He also gave up a solo homer to I.L. home run leader Justin Maxwell.

Michael Bowden struck out two in one scoreless inning.  Dennis Neuman, just called up from Greenville, made his PawSox debut by pitching two scoreless innings to pick-up the save.

The PawSox return home to begin a series tomorrow night 6:15pm against the Gwinnett Braves.  Jacob Thompson (1-2, 5.45 ERA) will pitch for the Braves. Felix Doubront (0-0, 1.93 ERA) gets the start for the PawSox.

NOTES:  PawSox SS Jose Iglesias was called-up by the Red Sox today to take the roster spot of Marco Scutaro, who was placed on the disabled list with a left oblique strain.  Iglesias made his debut as a defensive replacement in the ninth today against the Minnesota Twins.

Along with Neuman the PawSox also called up OF Ronald Bermudez from Salem.
